Student Code of Conduct

Drillham State School is committed to providing a safe, supportive and disciplined environment where all students can learn, achieve and reach their full potential. Working together, staff, parents and students strive to ensure that Drillham State School is an inclusive space for everyone. The school is guided by the school's Student Code of Conduct, which incorporates the school rules:

  • Be safe
  • Be respectful
  • Be responsible

At Drillham State School staff and parents acknowledge that some students require additional support to participate effectively with the curriculum.  Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct  (PDF, 1.51MB) for more information. The school's Behaviour Matrix (PDF, 121 KB) provides additional guidance for students. For more information regarding positive behaviour please visit Safe, Supportive and Disciplined schools.

Medication & Specialised Health Needs

At times students may need to have medicines administered at school, either short term or ongoing.  To enable staff to administer medication,  please complete and return Consent to administer medication form.  Over the counter medication will not be administered.

For long term conditions, parents should also have in place an action plan signed by a medical practitioner.  This includes Asthma action plan | Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions action plans  | Eczema action plan.  Some medication such as asthma puffers and adrenaline pens may be kept in students bags.

Guidance Officer / Speech Pathologist support

Through discussion with the principal or teachers referrals may be lodged to seek support from the guidance officer or speech pathologist servicing the school.

The speech pathologist visits Drillham State School once a term to assess and review student progress.  Programs are implemented during the term by  teacher aides.

Differentiated support

(including learning support / disability support / gifted and talented)

At Drillham, various programs are implemented to support all students based on their individual needs, by removing barriers to learning. Support is given within the design of the lesson for the whole class, small groups and one-on-one where required.

One-on-one support is provided by teacher aides through a 'Morning program' prior to 9am, 4 days a week. The program covers reading, speech programs, intensive literacy support programs, number facts and individualised programs.
